As far as I can remember, between the time when I know it worked fine, and I discovered it didn't work, I think all I added was two profile fields. I will review my notes though to make sure. I'm getting a bit sloppy I guess. icon_redface.gif

Well I went back and removed all mods that I had installed, and undid all the changes I had made to any files in the past week, but it hasn't fixed anything. What could possible be wrong? This error doesn't really point to any problem, so how can I fix it? Should I just try to reinstall the forums? icon_mad.gif

that would be your next move is to re-install the forums and watch it closely for any of the same errors

Woah, I just fixed it, but I have no idea how. Here is what I did.

I uploaded all the .tpl files from the original modules/forums/templates/subsilver folder that came in my Nuke download, to the themes/mytheme/forums folder. This fixed the problem immediately, but also messed up my theme.

So I decided to put back the original .tpl files from my themes/mytheme/forums backup folder one by one and test the forums each time to see if I could find which file had caused the problem, and try and fix it. I went through them all one by one, testing the forums each time, and I ended up restoring the files to exactly how they were before I started trying to fix this, and there was no sign of the original problem. Now it is as if I haven't edited anything, but for some reason the problem is gone :?

Well, at least my forums are working. Some times this Nuke thing has me really confused though. Thanks for your help though guys.

Oh wait, I just noticed that something HAS changed since I did this little fix. I no longer have the last 5 forum topics listed at the top of my forums index page. I guess this was the file that was causing the problems. I will have to let them know at Portedmods...

*/Edit...
I just reinstalled the glance mod and everything is working fine, so that wasn't it either. This is weird man. icon_surprised.gif

Ass-Holes Anonymous! This time I figured it out for real.

I was adding fields to the profile, and I stupidly decided to create a field called 'name'. Name had already been assigned to 'forums', so the default entry in the box would be 'forums'. However since it was an editable box in the profile users could edit it to enter in their name. When they did this the code got all messed up and for some reason decided the module was inactive. So don't ever name a custom field 'name'!

Now you will know what is wrong right away the next time some noobie makes the same mistake icon_mrgreen.gif

A good lesson to learn. Thanks for posting how you figured it out so somebody else can see how you fixed it.

Another good lesson is to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS back up your pages before you make any changes to them. It's a good idea to do a backup every time you add a mod. That way you know exactly which mod messed things up.

I usually just make a copy of the page and change the name of the old one to include the date that I changed it, like index.php would become index_11304.php. That way I can go back to the last one that I knew worked for sure.

Good job!

Kelly
