just wondering is there an index.html in the modules/Forums/ folder that could be causing this, cause there is blank index.html everywhere to protect the files

Try opening the modules/Forums/config.php and changing the contents of it to this:

<?php

@require_once("../../../mainfile.php");
define('PHPBB_INSTALLED', true);

?>

Make a backup and tell me what happens.

I was having the same problem, changed the config file in the forums module like you posted.

Instead of getting a blank white page with nothing on it, now I'm getting a page, left side blocks showing, header showing but the actual forums are still not there.
