Does anyone know how to add an authorization level in the forums. This is under the user permissions. The default listed ones are:

ALL
REG
PRIVATE
MOD
ADMIN

I wanted to add the SUB for Subscriber and set up access to forums for subscribers only. Anyone tried this before? I could do this with groups, but I like the idea if a person being auto added and being able to view SUB forums when they become a subscriber.

There is a mod for this at [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] you would just need to port it. Go take a look through there hacks, its a pretty recent one.

If you are talking about the user hack, where it adds names like Support Team and Bot, that is way, WAY out of my league. Porting that for me would be almost impossible.

I don't know if that would actually allow a subscriber in nuke to automatically become a permission for the fourms though. All I would have to do is change the Bot to Subscriber and update the forums, I guess.

No actually that might now work. I dont have the subscribers so I am not sure where it checks for them in the modules. Let em grab a version and look through a few files see if there is an easy way to check it.

Ok what you want to do is add an extra field to your forums table call it paid or something. Then you would want to edit the admin forums and add that option to the panel whether it is paid or not. Then in the view forum and viewtopic do a auth check for it. Since it is predifend in the mainfile as paid() you could do if if ($forumpaid == 1 AND paid()) { something like that. So if the forum is set to paid then it goes through the auth check.

Wouldn't I want the lookup to be the nuke_subscriptions table? Then have the lookup check to see if the subscription is still valid? Then if it is valid, it would go through the checks? Or does the paid function do that already?

Thats all done in the paid function. Take a look at it, it's in the mainfile.php

Ok, I took a good look at it. I see kinda how that works. (It's fuzzy, but I can see it)

I have edited the admin_forumauth.php, constants.php and lang_admin.php to show SUB in the drop down box in forum permissions. I have also added a simple and advanced mode Subscriber default setup. (Where Subscriber is set for everything except Sticky and Announce) along with the Public, Registered, Registered [Hidden], etc. Now where do I put the call up for the if paid=1 ??

I need to find a way to link the new authorization field to the specific permissions for the forums. Any ideas on that?

Sorry about that. Didn't mean to edit after your post. I didn't see you online. That stopped the viewing of all forums unless paid. So I changed to post.

Yes something like that but remember to close the brace } after the function. And test it out. What is the value of the check you added in the admin section?
