I was wondering what is the safest and best way to backup a phpnuke site along with it's databases... That way i can ensure full recovery and minimum downtime

Any suggestions or older threads that I couldnt find?

I would do a backup through the main control panel supplied by the host and also a full backup through ftp that way if one doesnt work then I know i still have one to fall back on. The database i do a full backup on that everynight usually, just for the sake of being in the habit of doing it.

And do you do the backup of the database via phpmysql? Or your ISP control panel?

Yes the full backup with the control panel supplied by your host does one the other you would do through phpmyadmin. I do mine through phpmyadmin everynight just to be safe.
