Kelly i gotta really big favour to ask ya here .... lol i have these gifs what are around 250kb file size the ideal file size i want for them is about 30 kb

.. i was wonderin is this transformation possible??? well the really big favour uve proberly realized what it is by now

wud u be able to reduct them in size for me if i sent them u

What program did you use to create the images, if its photoshop, always go file --> save for web when exporting images for the web, this will automatically optimize the image before you even start tampering with settings.

Some other things you can do to try and bring down the file size are

Sometimes when working with images youll realise the image you have is actually smaller than what you wanted, rather than adjusting the actaul size of the image in your editor, export it then stretch the image in html.

Bluring an image will also bring down its size - not always applicable but useful to know.

If there isnt transparancey in the image png (when set to 256 colours) is actually smaller in size than gif so try this (its also smaller with transparency, but most versions of ie cannot handle png properly and so dont pick up the transparency - most other browsers do however) try jpg aswell, personally i can optimize a jpg down further than a gif (but thats prolly just me :p)

In gif (and png) keep bringing down the amount of colours until it starts to lose quality, then set it at the quality which your comfortable with.

Thats just some of the tips i use when optimising images - kelly prolly has a god few more but try em if you want.

Can't tell ya much more than what I told ya [ Register or login to view links on this board.] , and what Os has told ya.

To reduce the file size, you're gonna have to either reduce the size of the image (height & width) or reduce the number of colors in the image.

In Photoshop, go to Save for the Web. In the dialog box that pops up, click the tabs at the top so that you can see the original image and the optimized version. Then on the right, start reducing the number of colors in your image. Start out with 256 and work your way down, while comparing the optimized image to the original to see how much quality you lose each time you reduce the number of colors. You want to shoot for the lowest number of colors possible while retaining the best quality possible. When you get to that point, that's the smallest you're going to get your filesize.

If that's still not small enough, then go back and reduce the image size and then optimize the colors.
