I'm looking for a mod that will allow me to place a counter in a block on my nuke 7.1 page. Something that I could post like:

XXX days XX hours and XX minutes until election time

or something like that

with your website do you have CPanel? if you do log in to the CPanel, and scroll down, and click CGI Center, then choose countdown, and choose the countdown information you want. it will then create the HTML. copy the HTML code, if you dont know how to create a block, go to a site with PHPNuke Tools, and choose the block creator and paste the code and convert to block.

Found this piece of code that does exactly what you want... As was said before, use the Block creator tools to make it into a block.
