Today our five databases crashed and the error message on the php admin page came up as 'max_questions' exceeded (current value 50000).

We spoke to our server hosts and they said the number of hits exceeded 50000 on all five database in an hour ...so it crashed and then reloads after an hour?

Can someone enlighten me on this subject ? and please tell me how to avoid any further crashes? Does it have something to do with having only one user name registered to all five databases? We had one. Should each database have a different name?

Everything is up and running now. We would like to avoid any further cardiac arrests.

Not sure what caused it to go over. You would need to get a hold of your logs and check those. Normally you wont go over even with 100 databases unless you have a very popular site or you have a bad query that is running wild.

we have recently been exploring and installing different chat modules.

do you think this could be the cause of the max questions issue?
do you recommend a specific chat for the phpnuke platform?

How do i find the logs you mentioned?

and one more thing, what might be a query running wild? I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed.

We run and online school withabout 140 people with access, I mean we might have say 50 people max online at one time?

would that warrant a 'max' error?

No 50 wouldn't. You should have error logs for your site leading up to the crash. Check those or ask your host too. It will tell you went wrong hopefully. A query running wild is basically a bad sql query that keeps executing itself over and over. SPChat is ok to use.

and why are there so many nuke info sites in german?

We tried SPChat but we couldn't get it to recognize user names in the database.
For now we got phpmychat which is old, simple, and a little atari but it works.
