I have a question with a difference.......

I've been creating a site for the wife, for mums-to-be & existing...

[ Register or login to view links on this board.]

I have already set up a hack so users don't get the confirmation
email once registered, they can log straight in, (No Mail YA HAck).

I am also in the process of installing a hack so that new members
MUST enter their date of birth during registration.

How can I set her site up where would-be members have to be
over a certain age..... say 16 ?

What version of Nuke are you using? I found a hack over at [ Register or login to view links on this board.] that lets you add 5 more fields to the registration form, so far there are 4 versions available: Nuke 6.9,7.0, 7.1 and 7.3. Here's a quote from the description:

A Module for PHP-Nuke which allows Administrators to add up to five admin defined text fields to the registration form.

I'm sure there are many ways to achieve this, this is only one of such.

For the site I have created, I am using nuke 7.3

I have d/l a copy of the latest version of that hack, plus the 7.3 update.
But whether it will do what I want, I don't know. There is nothing in any
of the descriptions to say you can do anything like what I want icon_cry.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Your going to have to do some editing to the to function new_user and the database. After you have added your field in the nuke_users table just add an input for it.

EXAMPLE:
Age: <input type='text' name='age' size='3'>

Then in the function checknewuser you will need to add a check for it.

EXAMPLE:

//if age less then 16
if ($age < 16) {
echo "User under 16 are not permitted to join";
} else {
  rest of function
}

Then you just need to trust whomever is joining to give the right information.

Thanks for the coding Telli,

As soon as I add the hacks, I will instigate the code you've
listed. Unfortunately coding isn't my forte so I gotta rely
on helpful folks like yourself LOL

I agree though, if someone does enter false information
you ain't going to know about it, unless of course there
is extra coding that can be added to, to let Admin know
if a user has tried to register more than once
