You will need a domain and some web space with at least one SQL database for a basic install. i think up to phpNuke version 7.4 it is free. i think the latest version 7.5 might cost a small amount.
As echo said you need 1 mysql database to run phpNuke. Check that with your service provider.

is your sub-domain a forwarding address or did you get it when you signed up with a webhost for webspace? you need webspace remember (minimum of 25MB).
