Hi, I"ve been searching all over the place for a solution to what I figured was a common issue.

I've just installed phpNuke 7.7 (have same issue with 7.5 though) and my forums aren't working properly. I'm have a log in issue and a log out issue.

If someone comes and registers on my site, then wanders off to the forums and tries to log in, they get a white page with this error message.

CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:

They can then hit back on their browser and hit refresh and they are now logged in.

However now they can't log out unless they leave the page and clear their cookies.

Please help!!

Just a shot in the dark here, it looks server side to me. You may want to ask your webhost about this.

I do have 2 websites hosted with them with 2 URLs and folders. Could it be causing a problem with the pathing?

High probability, I know I have a couple different domains which reside on the same server and I am always fighting cookies.

Hmmm, by two websites, do you mean two seperate domains each with their own hosting account, or a sub domain and/ or just different directories (folders) seperating the sites within the same hosting package? Also describe those errors to them about the CGI problem, there may be an adjustment on their end thats needed.

Here's how they seem to have me set up.

They have the root folder, then 2 more folders inside it. One for each website and each has it's own fuil domain.

When I asked them to look into the issue they responded:

We were able to reproduce the error at our location, however as is our policy, we do not provide code support unless there is a direct problem with our server. We were able to verify that your account settings/ php is working correctly on your account.

Our recommendation is to contact the vendor that sold this software to you or the web developer directly in order to get further assistance. As they are familiar with the product and probably recognize what may be missing/ lacking, they are a better choice to troubleshoot this issue.

I still think it's server side here...even though they say all is good with them. Could be as something as simple as what version of PHP they are running or mis-configured CGI. Telli, the man who owns this site also has a webhosting company and is very good at web server issues, I will point this thread to him, perhaps he will chime in here.

Is there a way to modify the code so that the pathing works?

Or is there another forum module I could install instead? I'd really like to get my site off the ground.

To be honest I really don't think that your webhost has a clue... icon_razz.gif O.K. with that out of the way and free from my inner being...I have no answer to your last questions, I mean sure you can try to install a stand alone forum..but does that make sense? I would really consider moving to a new host after reading their responce to you...course that's just me icon_wink.gif Like I said above, Telli the owner of this site also has a hosting company: [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

The man knows his stuff and I can assure you that you will never see a cop out from him in any support question(s) thrown at him,and you can't beat the prices...just my 2 ¢.
