But this is teh best resource I can find..

I have added gallery 1.5 into a clients PHP nuke site and all was perfect until last week. now if you open the gallery you get this error:

Error: Could not open lock file (/home/sbklive4/public_html/albums/albumdb.dat.lock)!

From what I have found its an issue with permissions on the gallery folder and the albums folder, it says to set all files and folders to 777.. now when I go into the cpanel and try to adjust the permissions it it says it did, but didint..
If I try it via SMart FTP i get an error 550 saying unable to edit permissions or something..

I am lost, On top of the error message, I cannot get in to the admin page to add to the album...

Like I said I know I am in the wrong place. But I am desperite for help..

a couple of things:

1. "all was perfect until last week"....what have you added or done to the site since last week?

2. "If I try it via SMart FTP i get an error 550 saying unable to edit permissions or something.. " ... what EXACTLY is the error? does your SmartFTP have the chmod capabilities? and are you sure you are changing the permissions of the correct files which should be noted in the readme files?

3. "I cannot get in to the admin page to add to the album... " what errors are you getting? It might help us better give you answers if you can give us exact errors. Is it a blank page? Is it the dreaded admin loop?

4. Have you tried posting these errors in the gallery site for help?

Changed, nothing at all, serious, no changes that I am aware of..

If I go to edit permission, this is the error stated from the error log.

550 .users: Operation not permitted , of any of the one of the files or folders i need to adjust permissions on.

and when I try to go to the gallery by itself, (thats the only way it shows the admin login link), ths is what I get..

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

trust me , nothing has been changed, all the articles I read indicate that this can happen if the host does updates and the permissions get changed somehow?

I have doen searchs they lead me no where, like I mentioned, I know I am in the wrong place, but I have always had great luck here with nuke issues and like this community. When I used Nuke, I frequented here a bit. But nuke does not fit my needs any longer, I am working this site for a friend.. any help is appreciated.

Have you asked your host if they have upgraded their software? Other than that, I'm sorry but I can't help any further with the gallery
