How about......a winner in each category? Do away with the rating and just vote? Have a panel of judges...maybe Staff? Don't stop me now.....I'm ona roll LMAO
One vote per day...I was under the impression this time you could vote for as many sites as you wanted but only once. But I still just voted once per day.
Let ALL members vote?

It was one vote per person per site, this means that you could vote for all sites but only once each. THis stops people from voting for themselves many times over. lol.

All your ideas are valuable to us and we will look into each idea and see how we can improve for next time. This was our first competition using the top sites module and in future compeitions you will probably find a large number of your ideas being implemented.

i kinda liked the system of rating.. its based on a grade.. and every site has something good.. (i wish we could have commented on what we liked/disliked)..

its nice to have it tho.. those people have worked hard so its nice to have their work recognized icon_smile.gif

OMG! I love that moped smilie!!!!!

Going by the number of votes levels out the playing field between people who are more experienced with website design and those who are not. It's just a matter of how many people you can get to vote for your site, whether it's good or not.

On the other hand, using a rating system, people (hopefully) would vote on a site based on the merits of the site.

I can kinda see both sides of the coin here, but I agree, in the future, it needs to be one way or the other.

Well.... when we pull everyones suggestions together we will look at what things we can do to make everything better.

We will certainly have this type of event again as it was quite productive but we would like to have more entries than the recent one.

my fear would be that people would just get 30 of their league members to sign up and vote.. but by rating system - scores would average out

That was made clear that anyone found cheating would be removed instantly. We were fully aware that members of any league would try and vote for their site too and we tried to prevent this.

Luckily i think we had no problems this time around. The voting was strictly for members. We thought it would be best to keep it to those who had entered but it is not that easy to restrict those members who did not enter either.

One way to eliminate the possibility questionable voting would be to appoint a panel of experts to judge the entries on various criteria, e.g. technical quality, visual appeal, functionality etc.

Whatever method is used, those who don't win will be dissapointed, but at the end of the day, I see the main benefit is to showcase people's work for others to enjoy.
