I am looking to start a medium size community site (a couple hundred users). The site will be for reporting / confirming bugs in the software used in my industry.

I will need:
Forums
image attachment to forums posts
the ability to move post easily from bug reports to confirmed bugs forums
a robust permission system (custom GROUPS)

several years ago I used Post-Nuke (great permission system, LAME forum integration)
I have also used vBulletin (not ready to bite off a commercial license but a very nice system)
I am using PHPnuke 7.8 on a family site now (great forum integration, poor permission system)

What do you recommend?

I like the look of simplemachines, never heard of it before. Features list reminded me of vBulletin.

Thanks for the link!

My Current favourite CMS is [ Register or login to view links on this board.] .A fairy new cms (well depends how you view new really i suppose) It looks extremely promising, has the best forum integration ive seen on a (worth while) cms to date (that ive had admin access to)

The [ Register or login to view links on this board.] (CPG-Nuke) CMS is also very well done.

BB's- I actually prefer [ Register or login to view links on this board.] to [ Register or login to view links on this board.] . But this also requires a commercial license.

Free BB's - [ Register or login to view links on this board.] (obviously)
[ Register or login to view links on this board.] as said above
[ Register or login to view links on this board.] probably the most secure out of all the bb's available, the main author of fud is a php core develope, so you can be sure they have an indepth knowledge of php lol. However the admin panel can leave alot to be desired, and there isnt many templates out there, if your looking for a well structured, very secure forum without eyecandy, this'd have to be your choice. But if your looking for a huge community of mods and templates to go along with it, then it is lacking in that direction
[ Register or login to view links on this board.] . My last reccomendation in this list would be phorum, well worth a look.

If you want any more info on any of these lemme know and ill write up a bit more indepth on whatever software package you want icon_biggrin.gif.

EDIT: On a side note, phpbb are in development of a new version, its looking to be a major update might want to look into that. More info on that can be found [ Register or login to view links on this board.] and [ Register or login to view links on this board.] . This version is currently in beta stages (public as far as i know)

Cpg Nuke (Now Dragonfly CMS) and Postnuke, are really the only branches of nuke currently released, platinum and evolution nuke are pretty much the exact same with addons/ tweaks. I tend to avoid them sort of nukes now as development can stop, as what happened with platinum.

Every other CMS has nothing to do with nuke.
