Unfortunately I know next to nothing about phpnuke and not a great deal about web sites so when a friend offered to make a web site for a novel I am writing I was overjoyed. She opted for phpnuke and I said ‘fine, whatever works’ Well it does work and will work better but there are some (in my opinion) large cosmetic issues that I am now told can not be fixed. The first is that there is a gap between the banner and the left hand column which contains the menu and other modules and the other (worse) problem is that the actual html content has a background colour, the left modules column has its own colour one will invariably run out before the other since the column is dynamic and the main pages length will change according to the screen and other personal settings on the browser.

The problem will be obvious if anyone wishes to view the site but before I post a link I must stress that this is an adult site. It contains no pornography but the nature of the novel is adult and may well cause offence to some. If you are the sort that is likely to take offence then please do not visit it.

Now I do not accept that any problem of this nature can not be fixed but I do not want to get into a row with someone that has very generously already spent a large amount of time working on the site for nothing so if anyone has any ideas on how the problems might be solved then please post here and I will diplomatically pass the information on. Most of those changes can be made in the themes/THEME_NAME/style/style.css also themes/THEME_NAME/theme.php. Those two files control most of the look of your theme.

My apologies

I have just realised that (because the book which this web site deals with) is not yet published my friend was only applying the theme (well the applicable one) to users that had logged in. Anyone just following the link [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] would not have seen the problems I was referring to. This has now been dealt with and so hopefully someone might be able to go to the site, see the problem, view the html source and take an educated guess at what needs changing. I don’t doubt that telli is right about the problem being either in the style.css or the theme.php files but I am afraid that is nowhere near enough information. Now that it is possible to see the problem without having to log in would it be possible for someone to narrow it down a little please? The book is coming out hopefully in a week or so, so this is becoming a matter of some urgency.

For the right side where the pages show up do you want that with a white background?

Ideally there would be no gaps anywhere. One of the things that most irritates me about other people’s web sites is when they ‘optimise’ it for 800 x 600 and you waste tons of space on the screen if your resolution is set higher. When I thought that there was no way she was going to be able to get the web site look respectable in time I made a raw html version of the site myself and expected that to fill the page ( [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] ) but it does not fill the page as i expected it to. (no doubt something to do with the thickness of the tables) If there has to be a gap at the top or on the left then there should really be a similar gap on the right hand side in order to frame (in the non html sense of the word) it right. Ideally though the site would entirely fill the page, with no white in it, for any screen resolution. I have just had word that the book will be ready in about three days and am starting to panic.

Try this one out. Be sure to back up your old one.

You have to upload the full theme folder. Looks like your just trying to make the changes.
