Ok itll just get messed up if i try and describe this effect in words so take a look at what i want in this page, [ Register or login to view links on this board.] , ok that is a tutorial for it, but the tutorial is for flash 4, which i dont have lol.

Ok now what im getting stuck on in this tutorial is on page 3, the rectangle thing and the fill panel. Either im not doing the rectangle thing correctly or the fil panel is called something different, or theres an easier way to do all this or im blind, all of the above are possible lol. Could ya help me get this dang effect down ?

EDIT: i have flash mx version 6, flash mx 2004, and flash mx 2004 pro any help on these would be greatly appreciated icon_biggrin.gif

In Flash MX it's in the Color Mixer. Make it linear and add a Color Proxy (the little white box thing) so that there are 3. Make the center one white with 100% Alpha, make the two outside ones 0% Alpha, that should do it.

Hiya, one of the reasons that I never use Flash 5 is that I could never find anything badgrin.gif

In the Fill panel, 'fill' will let you set the gradient to linear, radial etc, and set the colors and the number of gradient ranges.

I found the best way to do it was to make the shape as a long rectangle, fill it with the gradient, and then convert it to a symbol and rotate it, but if you want to do it as you fill it, you can click and drag the paint bucket on the shape.

Don't forget that the shape should have 3 states. The middle should be 100% alpha, and the 2 end points should be 0% alpha, so that it fades at either side. Set the alphas for each point with the Mixer menu. You'll have to add one state as the default is 2. Double click on the line to add one.

It all sounds way more complicated that it really is. If necessary I can do a short tutorial on the Glint effect, pics will show the process better than words, let me know if you need it.
