Hi,

I run a PHPNuke 7.0 site. I do not have the option to upgrade at this time, so let me get that out of the way up front.

This makes the fourth time my index file has been hacked in the past MONTH!

I've done some reading on various forums, but it's so confusing I can't find a strait answer on two things.

1) Is this a Nuke security issue or a Web Hosting Issue? Seems to me it's a hosting issue, due to the fact that all of a sudden when I changed from my buddies hosting site over to a public Web Hosting service, the next week I'm getting hacked. Odd coincidence to me.

2) Depending on what the cause of this is, see questions #1 Nuke or Hosting service. What are my options to make this stop using PHPNuke 7.0?

Sorry to hear bad news

You must know where they hack your site, for learn you can check your server logs or can politely ask help from your host .If you can find the hole they enter you can fix it or ask what to do .Is it possible your buddies can be angry to you and hack you coz you leave them ?
If you have to use 7.0 make sure you have the latest security patches ,you can find the latest patches from [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] .You should also update your forum version to latest one .Do you have sentinel security add on ? it will help you protect from most attacks you can get it from [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] ( version 2.4.2)
Try to change all your passwords.

Like shark said I would get the server logs for that day and look through them to see how there getting in. It sounds like to me there running sometype of a cmd script maybe an exploit in your phpbb and uploading a new index file. Or are they just editing the index file?
