I am a complete noob to PHP and MySQL. I haven't had much experience with website building or hosting PHPnuke, but I am eager to learn.

I am trying to get MySQL to work, when I setup the Instance Config, Install as a Windows Service, I get a firewall error 3306. I went to my Windows Firewall, made an exception to allow it - didn't work. I turned Windows Firewall competely off - didn't work.

A friend of mine told me just to use the Bin Dir. in Windows PATH. I did that, and when I pull up the screen it simply says "Enter Password:" when I enter my password (or any word for that matter) and hit enter, I hear a beep and the window is removed.

I am a bit frustrated because I can't find any tutorials on how to fix these problems.

I am anxious to learn and not have someone hold my hand, but it is hard to find information out there.

Does anyone how to help? Also, what are some good beginner guides to PHPNuke?

Thanks in advance.
