I was adding some scripts to my forum, and one of my members Imed me to tell me that they had only a red X where the security code was supposed to be. I am guessing that while fiddling around with the images, I somehow deleted one that was necessary for the security number to show. Is this what happened and can anyone tell me how I can fix this?

Ok what hack did you recently add? Your image is in the right place

Its just something you added may have messed with the path. Also because your using 6.9 you can just change the $gfx_chk in the config.php to not show it if you want.

well, I have added many hacks recently. about 15 in the past week.

I do make back ups of the files as I go, then after each install, i check out the site a bit to make sure it's all good before deleting the back-ups (I do site back up also). However, because I haven't signed in as anything but an administrator and I don't logg out, i didn't know about this one until one of the members told me about it. I had installed several hacks that night. :???:

I would like to remove the security code altogether, however, I have heard that nuke is very suceptable to hackers and stuff. But I know the security code greatly annoys my members. I saw another post here where you made a suggestion of how to correct this problem on an earlier version and I went ahead and took a look through my files. this was what i had found:

Be sure to write it exactly as above, case SeNsItIvE!
# $sitekey: Security Key. CHANGE it to whatever you want, as long
# as you want. Just don't use quotes.
# $gfx_chk: Set the graphic security code on every login screen,
# You need to have GD extension installed:
# 0: No check
# 1: Administrators login only
# 2: Users login only
# 3: New users registration only
# 4: Both, users login and new users registration only
# 5: Administrators and users login only
# 6: Administrators and new users registration only
# 7: Everywhere on all login options (Admins and Users)
# NOTE: If you aren't sure set this value to 0

Is it in this area at the $gfx_chk: that I need to add the 0?

If you look just under it you will see the variables and you will see something like $gfx_chk =7;

Change that to 0

Your site will be no more susceptible by doing this if you have current security fix updates.
