I want to install locally a copy of our existing site for testing. (phpNuke 8.0)

Any good "how-to" out there? Found a couple, but they're not very detailed.

Installed easyPHP per the phpnuke.org site, but no modifications are done yet to any files, and I have not installed our site in the www folder as yet, as I need to make sure I download the site correctly. My knowledge of this stuff is still very basic! I have no real scripting knowledge other than very basic xhtml. Multimedia is my background, not programming.

Doing this is both a learning process for me, and to learn how to admin our site, and to learn how to change the look of the site (currently 3-D Fantasy theme is default)

I did manage to get the header banner changed for our default theme. I assume to show that same new banner in other themes, I must do the same process of loading an updated logo.gif file in each theme's image folder?

Thanks! icon_wink.gif

You also need to install a MYSQL database. I am not familiar with any HOW TO's for installing Nuke on a local server. It would probably be easier to install on your server with your site just in a seperate directory for strictly testing.

Yeah, mysql comes with easyPHP. Installing on the server kinda defeats the purpose of not working online! The whole point is to work offline to prevent any access to the site while working on it.

I'm amazed that I can't find anyone that does this, yet it is discussed in the php manual. Is there not anyone that works on their site in this manner, and if not, why not?
