OH GOD,I can'ttakeit anymore!!!

No one can log into the site, and No one can register. I have spent a great deal of time trying to figure this out but I can't icon_cry.gif
I can't even bear to LOOK at my FTP now....
I changed codes in the language files but then, I did more than that, I got intelligent and decided that I wanted to change the things that my members saw when they clicked on the links to register and stuff. What did I do??? So, I went and tried to change it all back and now it's more of a mess.
Please, can someone help me with this?

You have to remember what you changed thats why it is important to only do one thing at a time. What exactly did you edit in the Your_Account Folder?

I know this won't help the problem at hand...but when I am altering a file or two, I just either rename the original by sticking a letter in front of the name (ie; header.php to xheader.php) and leaving it in the directory or just making a new folder on my desktop and name it "default whatever the name is" and drag the original into that folder , and then if something goes wrong I still have the working file. I have learned this by my past mistakes. Hope you get it fixed up.

Telli,

I didn't do anything in the your_account folder Only the language files.
I haven't bothered with that site for some time now. I was thinking of just doing a fresh install, but then I'd have to go through all the initial log in issues again...
have you heard if the 7.0 is stable yet? I was thinking it might be worth installing it now

Sabastina

Echo,

Thanks for the advice. I'll try doing it that way.

If you only edited the language files, u can just get a copy of the original and upload that over your language file, thats providing that u did only edit that file.

Along with what echo has said, another way to avoid these mishaps to your site is installing a second nuke, and having it like yoursite.com/testnuke or test.yoursite.com, this way u can try all the different changes u want to apply to your nuke without worrying about messing up the site, then if they work u can mod your real nuke.

EDIT: On your site you have installed the CZ Links module, at the top of this block it provides the link so that people can add your button to there site, you havnt edited that, so people that copy the code out of the little white box are copying the cz link and button, you may want to alter that.

If you are using a text editor to change or edit your files may i suggest that you try Note tab lite which is available in the downloads section. it opens most files and once you save the changed file it automatically saves a back-up of the overwrited file just incase you ever need it.

Oh, sorry, I got the issue fixed. Thanks for the help all my stuff is working right now at that site! I appreciate you all!

I know, I'm probably not to say stuff like this on the forums so's not to waste space, but I've realized something...
I don't need to change or disable the link to register, nuke seems to like to do it for me! No one can get into my new site, grrrr. Working on it but just thought I'd tell everyone the trick is getting them in not keeping them out!

Thanks for reading,

sabastina
