I have searched for a very long time, trying to find anyone that had a similar problem to mine. With no luck..

I am using PHP-Nuke 5.6. Why, you ask? Because my host wont upgrade their PHP on the MySQL server from 4.0.6, to 4.1.0.

Anyway. I've had my share of problems, all that I could figure out and correct myself. Except this one..

Whenever I log into /admin.php, - Administration, then to Preferences - General Site Info, whenever I change anything, go down to Save Changes, the page loads back to the regular Administration page, and NOTHING has changed! No matter what I change in the General Site Info page, it doesn't save when click Save Changes.
I have absolutely no other problems with my website, except for this one. All accesses are okay with the MySQL server, the correct nuke_tables are uploaded (made sure to upload 5.6 nuke.sql), and all FTP server settings are optimal. I have not changed any PHP code, nor installed any other code. All code is from a fresh 5.6 install.

Just nothing changes at all. First time I did it, I thought it changed. Went back later, and noticed that really nothin' HAD changed...

All my knowledge and troubleshooting skills have failed... That is why I come to thee, oh great PHP-Nuke masters yourselves, for help and guidance. This unexplained phenomena must be solved.

hello and Welcome to Codezwiz.

I'm certainly no master but wanted to find out exactly what it is you wanted to "change" in your preferences that is not saving? What information are you trying to save or change?

Howdy!

Website Configuration:

The General Site Info:

The first field to change in that page is: PHP-Nuke Powered Site.
Then Site URL: [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]
Then Site Logo: logo.gif

I'm trying to change all of it accordingly. Y'know, the site URL to "http://www.liberators-team.com", the Site Slogan, the Administration Email name, the Footer Line 2, Backend Title, and such. All that to fill in what you're SUPPOSE to fill in once you install PHP-Nuke. "Your Slogan Here!" stuff.

I can change 1 thing, and it does not save. I can change it all, does not save. Change all the options to things I don't want, and it still doesn't save.

It's like there's a problem with the nuke_tables or something. But there are no errors that pop up displaying such an issue. Every time I click Save Changes, it looks like it should save, but it doesn't.

All the other managing sections, like, Block, Download, Edit Admins, Forum, Reviews, Submissions, all that still works just fine. I can edit something in there and it saves when I click the button. So far all that I've searched, only that ONE page doesn't change. The Preferences page.

This is extremely odd... I have absolutely no idea what the problem could be.

I have seen some amazing explinations of other errors, so perhaps I can be lucky with the talent here and get my problem solved. icon_biggrin.gif

Respectfully,

Daystrom,
Liberators

Well there might not be an answer, but are there any suggestions?

I'm thinking, as harsh as it might be, just to wipe the FTP, wipe the mysql, and starting over again. But I'm afraid that this will happen again afterwards.

This is such a bummer...

only thing I can think of is to run this
[ Register or login to view links on this board.] as sometimes cookies get stuck in there even after doing a total clearing of your cache

if that still does not work for you, a re0install of the version of Nuke you have might be the best choice. no need to re-do Mysql ...just the basic package is all you need to do.

Thank you very much for your help, but it did not fix this particular problem.

Another problem I'm having:

I had just added a message in the Messages Administration page, typed out a nice long message, clicked Add Message, and my /admin.php page just went blank...

What does THAT sound like to you? (not rhetorical nor do I know)
I think I read a post from a guy about that, but couldn't remember where in this website it was... Where he went to a page, and it was just blank...

The first message I typed out worked just fine. It's out sittin' pretty on my /index.php page right now... So I don't know why this error happened now..

Argh.. Time to do some more research...

Again, thanks Taut.

to answer your not so rhetorical question.....lol

seems to me you're better off going with another host for your site and dl the latest version of nuke...and update your tables in your db....certainly not a fix but at least you can get a better handle on things and more mods and blocks, etc designed for the newer versions...

and your welcome even though I really didn't quite get your problem fixed for you

Rhetorical, or not rhetorical, that is the question...

Yeahhhh.. I'm thinkin' about going with another host. They've dropped the ball a couple of times with emailing me back when I asked them things... So to all that read this, be weary of [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

And I really don't like Nuke 5.6.... because I've had a taste of 6.9, and I like it. icon_biggrin.gif

I will have to discuss changing hosts with the rest of the Liberators, and see what they say.

To [paraphrase] Dylan Thomas, I will not go quiet into that good night.

Fare thee well all.
