ok, so everything is uploaded and i get this error (www.chriscurl.com):

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: message_die() in /home/ccurl/public_html/db/db.php on line 88

from looking through older posts, i realize the problem is the config page, but how do i find out what is the correct information to go there. hopefully someone can stop laughing at me long enough to help lol

no one is laughing...in fact I commend you for doing a search and reading before you posted. just make sure the top 4 in your config file is filled in with the correct info:

# dbhost: SQL Database Hostname
# dbuname: SQL Username
# dbpass: SQL Password
# dbname: SQL Database Name

normally,

the first one is localhost
the second is your database username when you log in to your db
the third is your database password
and the fourth is your db name which can be found when u login to your phpmyadmin, you should see it right at the top

thanks for getting back to me, now weve opened a whole can of worms lol

so i had downloaded and installed phpnuke, it came with a db called nuke so as far as db goes thats all ive got, now i have downloaded phpmyadmin but have not installed it on my server, where would it go? when i log into my server i have these folders: cgi-bin, public-html (where the php nuke files are), sql (where the nuke db is) and upgrades. where does phpmyadmin go, it doesnt just go into public-html right? anyways, what im getting at is i dont have a db that has a username and password that i can put on the config file...whew

the db name does not have to be found in phpmyadmin...if you are sure the db name is nuke...then try and use that name in the 4th line

but in that case how do i know what to put for the username and password? since i havent had any hand in creating that db?

getting to your sql files requires a username and pwd....was that not provided to you? if so, how or where did you get the download from for nuke and mysql?

the sql folder with the nuke db inside was included in the phpnuke download off of this site, there was no username or password involved, thats the only involvement ive had with a database

first off, your web host must have MySql enabled. make sure that they offer that service. that is where your db goes into. the database creates tables for your Nuke files which is why it does not go into a file and also which is why oyu are having erros...it is not locating a db!
