When ever I try to use a table in an article, encyclopedia term, or other areas, the page presentation is a bit off.

Example : [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

I have tried bb code in areas that accept it, and tried enclosing the table in a div (hoping it will seperate the table from the php generated code).

Here is the code used to create the table, div version.

<div align="center">
<table border="1">
<caption>Chart of Materials</caption>
<tr bgcolor="black">
<td valign="top" align="center"><font color="white">Material</font></td>
<td valign="top" align="center"><font color="white">Color / Grade</font></td>
<td valign="top" align="center"><font color="white">Sizes / Lengths</font></td>
<td valign="top" align="center"><font color="white">Joinging Techniques</font></td>
<td valign="top" align="center"><font color="white">Uses</font></td>
<td valign="top" align="center"><font color="white">Advantages</font></td>
<td valign="top" align="center"><font color="white">Disadvantages</font></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td valign="top">Cast Iron with Hub</td>
<td valign="top">Grey-Black / SV & XH</td>
<td valign="top">2" through 15" / 5' and 10'</td>
<td valign="top">Lead & Oakum, Compression</td>
<td valign="top">DWV</td>
<td valign="top">Long lasting, quite fewer supports</td>
<td valign="top">Heavy, Labor Intensive, Requires wider walls</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td valign="top">Cast Iron No Hub</td>
<td valign="top">Grey-Black / SV & XH</td>
<td valign="top">2" through 15" / 10'</td>
<td valign="top">No-Hub Bands</td>
<td valign="top">DWV</td>
<td valign="top">Long lasting, quite fewer supports</td>
<td valign="top">Heavy, More expensive than plastic</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>

Any suggestions on how to add tables to nuke pages would be helpful.

I've looked and it works fine for me but I run in resolution 1024 X 768, Did you try making your tables width = 100%. Even if I make my browser small it looks fine.

Thanks for taking a look. Maybe it is just my browser then, IE 6.0

I see the description, a black box, and then scroll down to the table. If I do not insert the table into a div, the page is really funky.

Works as it is, just hoping for a bit more control on the layout icon_wink.gif

Do you mean the black box as I see that is the only thing that looks weird as it as nothing in it no contents and its miss placed under "Any pipe made from cast iron. The rotational casting process is used." With nothing in it.

Removing div block made no changes. Tried removing table and just tr and td, since a table is already created (boy that messed things up icon_wink.gif )

Added valign to table, after reinserting the table tag. Hmm, all still looks the same. Strange, looking at the source, I do not see where the empty tr and td is popping in from.

Dont know then there is only one last thing I can think of thats look to see if your table as height= 100% and make it less like 200 or 600 but valign should work.

Thank you for the time you have spent trying to help me out. No height is declared for the table. Table height is automatically generated by the content held in a table. Adding a restrictive height could mess things up for low resolution viewers.

I will tear into the view source to see what is creating the empty box.

Thanks again,
Ken
