Im probably just missing something small but what could be done to make a theme work better on diff resolutions? Right now it shows best 1024 X 768 but you go much smaller you need to scroll to the right quite a bit yet on some themes you dont. Just trying to get it so it doesnt.

Any helps appreciated icon_wink.gif

It depends. It could be the width of the header image(s) that's causing the horizontal scrollbar, or the widths of the blocks in the main body of the theme. It could be the footer images.

Without seeing the theme, I couldn't tell ya what's causing the scrollbar, but if I had to guess, I'd start with the header images. If it says it was designed for 1024x768, then more than likely the total width of all the images across the header is more than 800 pixels. To get the theme to fit inside the next resolution down (800 x 600), you'd need to resize the images and possibly change some table widths to get it to fit.

Yep, you have a flash logo that is 399 pixels wide and the Google banner ads which is 468 pixels wide, for a total of 867 pixels. If you want the theme to fit inside an 800 x 600 resolution, you either need to use a smaller logo, or move the banner ads elsewhere on the page.

Its a gif :p

On the chronicles theme its a flash file but its the exact same size as the one on dkcmidnight and has the google add aswell. The only difference is that Chronicles is flash but it does not need to be scrolled on a smaller resolution thats what has me stumped. What would be causing the exact same thing other then format to have different results?

I looked at your mainpage in 800 x 600 resolution. There is a horizontal scrollbar on the Chronicles theme.

It's simple math. It doesn't matter if your logo is .gif or flash, if it's 399 pixels wide, and the banner ads are 468 pixels wide, then the total width is 867 pixels, about 87 pixels too wide to fit inside that resolution.

Yeah I went ahead and put on 800 and got a scroll bar on chronicles too yet for some reason when I checked it from on campus there wasnt one on chronicles :\ Ill have to double check that in class tonight to see if i was suffering from lack of sleep.

I did however cut the table width to 90% cut the ad in half , and took the dk image to 300 and 350 and still scrolled.

KISS it they can always resize if need be water 800 gives me a headache :p
