Hi, sorry if this is the wrong forum, it didn't really fit into the BB forums so i just posted here in the board.

Ok, so i've got my empty little message board lol, i've installed a new theme (smartDark) it works fine. I'm interested in installing a few hacks, but i've taken a look on PHPBBhacks.com and none of the hacks work with my version of PHPBB (2.0.10), but i only upgraded this today and when i looked a few days ago when i had 2.0.8, even then hardly any of the hacks i wanted were working with that version. My question is, are these specified versions accurate or will they work fine in other versions?

They should work just fine. Just remember to make a backup in case of problems and if your running a Nuke based site then those hacks need to be ported to work before you use them.

Ya, i even installed the points hack for phpbb 2.0.4 on phpbb 2.0.10

Most of them work

Which parts of the site should i make a backup of? I don't really mind if it gets mucked up at this stage because there's nothing on it. It's straight PHPBB rather than nuke: I wanted more control over my site than nuke gives. Shall i just make a backup of the entire forums folder? Thansk for the quick reply though icon_smile.gif

When you install a mod, just look at the install file, see what you have to edit, make a backup of them files, do the editing etc, on another set of the same files, if everything goes well, delete the backup, if something goes wrong, upload the backup

i suggest doing this for everything you install

that is what i do and it works good icon_smile.gif icon_mrgreen.gif
