I hear alot of talk on the phpnuke stuff but what exactly is it (ie what does it allow you to do)... Stupid question of the week award to me but i've never actually seen anybody say, lol.

This is the definition according to the folks at PHP-Nuke...

Basically it's an out-of-the-box community website/portal/messageboard that is customizable and extendable.

Yes, this site is based upon PHP-Nuke, although heavily modified.

So... If I wanted to set up a forum for my league using it.... Wouldnt need to be overcomplicated, just the forum and a few links and info pages and news pages and such.... Would it be really complicated to do?

Sure, assuming you have hosting that meets the requirements, Mysql, PHP etc.
The current version of PHP-Nuke works on just about any kind of server, and is very easy to install. I would suggest that you get it, install it, and then take your time to mess around with it and get to know it before you make it available to your members.

Yeah but I mean albeit I spend alot of time using puter's n stuff I dont really have much knowledge of servers n mysql and all that kinda stuff... I write html and thats about as comlex as it gets with me in the way of coding/scripting/programming... I wouldn't really know where to start with that sorta stuff, lol.... Is it all pretty simple to get the general hang of or would you recommend I don't bother until I know what I'm doing, lol. (Tx for the replies btw).

As you've probably seen...the world of Nuke is a great bunch of people that help each other out as much as they can. It's very simple to use and modify once installed. Nuke comes with everything you need to get a nice community up and running without really any programming knowledge. Once you get to where you want to start modifying your site you'll find that just about all of the addons and hacks you want are already made, are open source and come with great instructions. If you know how to FTP you'll have no problem at all getting things going! Plus it's free...you really can't go wrong.

All the hosts and servers and other stuff I'd need to publish it are free y'mean?

Nope...just the codes are free. You'll have to find a server that does all the things mentioned above. We use these guys.. [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] tons of room, good service and a good price. You'll also hafta find a host for your domain name. I'm sure any of the admins here would be glad to help you get set up with a server here.
