I come on bended knee on this one!

My site has slowed down for no apparent reason, up until a matter of days ago my side had a page generation of about 0.8s now it is nearly always 5.56s.

I haven't changed anything since this slow down occured and have removed every aspect of my site one by one to see where the problem is, but nothing has made a difference.

I have tried everything on speeding up nuke and have emailed my hosts over this, they say my site is big and their side is working so its my problem, when I ask for a slow query report, I got

We can not help you any further!

My site has always been big and this has just started

That is from the home page.

That one from the forums, from 218 to 38 queries and the times nearly identical so I know something is causing this and I'm lost as to what!

I did come across this post but to be honest I don't follow the whole globals part of it and I gave it a go last night and saw nothing, so I don't even know what I'm looking for

There's also I nice database mod called CZDB I couldnt find it anymore but here it is. It's got several nice tools for optimizing your DB and it speeds things up quite a bit for me.

I've been trying out a program called Paessler Site Inspector its a 30 day trial but it gives tons of info about your site. It's showing 175 coding errors on your index page. Could be something to look into.

I have similar problem with my site. Yesterday it was worse. Page Generation time was about 200s for some pages and the serverload was about 30. I removed some of the modified code, which I thought could slow down the site. It helped to attain page gen time of about 25 - 30 seconds.

Now I applied Teli's tips and it did help. Now I get a page gen time of 2 - 10 seconds and the server load has also reduced.

But I am looking for more speed. I noticed that codezwiz had 300+ visitors+members and had page gen time of .36 seconds, while my site generally has about 70 - 100 viewers.

I am using PHP-Nuke 7.0 with lots of modifications. Do I need to upgrade to 7.6 (or any other) to get better performance? Can it be due to my hosting plan? What kind of server is codezwiz using? I am hosting my site on a VPS with following specs

Intel Dual Xeon 3.06Ghz
8GB Registered ECC DDR RAM
73GB 15,000rpm U320 SCSI drives in Hardware RAID 5

And as a VPS user I get
Guaranteed RAM: 256MB
Burst RAM: 1GB

Apache/1.3.31
MySQL 4.0.17-standard
PHP 4.3.8 (Zend: 1.3.0)

Its alot of optimization. But your site shouldnt be that slow with 70+ members you either have a bad query somewhere or your server is running bad or your getting a denial of service attack. Are you the server owner? Has your host reported problems?

Thanks for the reply Teli. It is a VPS (Semi dedicated) and I have the root access.

Is their a way I can check if it is a Denial of Service attack or if its a bad query.

My current Mysql stats from the analyzer (from NC) are

Uptime: 352406 Threads: 19 Questions: 4943681 Slow queries: 9517 Opens: 1946 Flush tables: 1 Open tables: 681 Queries per second avg: 14.028

Login and su- to root and type " top " then hit enter see what the highest system resources are.
