I guess I pruned up somehow. I tried to install the NSN news thing, and when I went to install it, it went to a blank page, and now my index page is gone, goes to a 404. I can go to the admin page and click on other modules from there, but the home page is gone. Please Help

PS: I already replaced the regular files, it didn't help. I also backed up the database from the admin panel before I tried to installed the NSN module, but I don't know how to use it. (Ammended) I found instructions on how to restore the database tables, but I'm almost afraid to do it. I'm totally worried that I'll mess things up even further.

That's it, for now on, I don't mess with this darn stuff myself anymore.

which version did you install?
i just installed NSN_News_Plus_UNI_101 yesterday without a hitch.

i suggest you make sure you have the right version, then reinstall it from scratch, and hope it goes better the second time.

the database changes are minor:
ALTER TABLE nuke_stories ADD mainews SMALLINT
CREATE TABLE nuke_nsnne_config
and some inserts for that new table is all i see

this sounds more like you forgot some editing, or uploading/overwriting of certain news files.

if news loads on your index, that would maybe explain the dead page.

on closer look, i see i can get to your forums, and from there i can move to some of your news links, i can also see there are files missing, or in the wrong location.

Module's Name: NSN News 750
License: All Modifications - Copyright © 2000-2005 NukeScripts Network
Author's Name: NukeScripts Network
no images showing in the copywrite popup tells me the wrong directory

re upload everything to the proper directories, or even better, maybe grab the uni and overwrite all with that.

also, did you read this? [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

Thanks for replying. I appreciate it. I used NSN News 750. and to tell you the truth, right now I'm totally lost. I think I followed the instructions correctly, but who knows. I guess I can try to do it all over again, but now all this mess happening has got me nervous about doing it. icon_smile.gif wished now I had left well enough alone.

I redid everything and it still didn't work. Still no index page. I don't know what I did wrong or am doing wrong.
I will gladly pay someone a little something who knows how to fix this if they can correct this for me.

Hi Telli, naw, didn't get it straighten out. By the time all this is said and done, I'll be a near expert on php-nuke....not! Following the 'how to' instructions from Nuke Cops, I did everything it said, then it would not take the backup. Kept getting that error, 'no database found or selected', which ever it was. I ended up having to save all files then reloading everything. so it's now a brand new site, without the users, and all the info I had spent weeks on loading. I tried after that to get it to take the backup again and again, but I keep getting different errors. Granted, not knowing very much about php and databases, it's probally something I've done wrong. Right now, I don't have a clue. If I could get it to load the backup, then I'd be happy, at least the info would be there.
