I installed the CNB Your Account mod and things seemed to work til I tried to register my dummy accounts...
here is what happens...

User is able to register, and does receive the email.
However, the activation link in the email leads to a 404 error.

The activation link in this case is:
[ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

Unfortunately I can't understand anything after Your Account (if anyone would explain what it means to me, I'd appreciate it)...

I'm thinking that it means to go to the activate user page?

Can someone help me figure this out cause I'm confused and want to get this working so the activation works correctly.

Thanks for reading,

Sabastina

I'm not sure if it's important, but I'm not using the login blocks that came with it...I'm using the CZuser info instead...but I don't see how that would be an issue in this situation...

Did you try the CNB forum to see if this was a common problem?

Yes, I've been talking to them there.
My problem is that I've been trying to find my error reports so they can see what kind of error it is...unfortunately, I have to figure out how to turn them on because me and my friends decided it's best to suit our purposes to purchase reseller space icon_eek.gif (we plan to reward members who are achieving their recovery with websites and forums for their hard work)...lol...So it's slow going -I found the instructions to activate the reports and am working on understanding them now.
Sorry I took most of the day off yesterday and forgot to come back here to report that I had found help else where.

thanks,
Sabastina

Ok, it wasnt the mod...I've deleted the old site, and reinstalled. Haven't added the CBN YA on this one yet and still email activation doesn't work.
i've worked on figuring it out...maybe someone can help by seeing what I've found so far? The site is on a patched 7.6.
My members ARE receiving the activation email. My settings are set for user activation atm.

Here is what I have so far:

This is what the activation email language file looks like:

Subject: Welcome to {SITENAME} Forums
Charset: iso-8859-1

{WELCOME_MSG}

Please keep this email for your records. Your account information is as follows:

----------------------------
Username: {USERNAME}
Password: {PASSWORD}
----------------------------

Your account is currently inactive. You cannot use it until you visit the following link:

{U_ACTIVATE}

Please do not forget your password as it has been encrypted in our database and we cannot retrieve it for you. However, should you forget your password you can request a new one which will be activated in the same way as this account.

Thank you for registering.

{EMAIL_SIG}

THEN when the activation link is clicked on...

It sends the user (lauracroft in this example) to the following url (I've checked the activation code in the user_temp files in my data base. They match those in the url...):
[ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

This I believe is a result of this code here found in the modules.php Your Account index.php files:

"$nukeurl/modules.php?name=$module_name&op=activate&username=$username&check_num=$check_num";

All this results in a 404 error...
Question is...WHY isn't it working....

Any help would be great.
Thanks for reading.

I just wanted to follow up on this and report what I had found was wrong.
It was the simplest error...

Though I had all my Urls entered in the appropriate format in my preferences and phpbb configs, I had overlooked the fact that I have my nuke on my root as a file called library. So I had to add that to the url.

This means, that I had to go into the nuke preferences, and instead of typing [ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

I had to enter it as
[ Register or login to view links on this board. ]

So, maybe this post can help someone else who is having the same problem with email errors.

(Because this is a common problem I know others who have recently done this as well, I'm posting some key words so a search may pull them for nubies)
Email trouble, no email activation, email problems, hope this helps others.
