I have lost access to forum admin page after an upgrade. Being an amateur, I might sound silly.

I will get the following error message when trying to access Forum admin page:

Could not open subSilver template config file

I checked the template and subsilver.cfg file was there .
I opened the file functions.php

$template_path = 'templates/' ;

Pls note that line 353 is blank.

I tried as recommended by Xyberian to clear nuke-session table in phpMyadmin, but instead of "clear" command, I only find "empty", "drop". I did not venture to use either command for fear of messing things up.

So, first of all, check include/session.php.
Then, if you find session.php files are different between versions,
open your nuke DB by phpmyadmin.

I also added a field session_admin as recommended below, to no avail.

Firstly, it is subSilver.cfg, case sensative there. Not subsilver.cfg. This file has to be in the templates folder with the subSilver.css.

To empty the sessions table, simply input

TRUNCATE table_name_here;

That will empty all rows in a table. Therefor you do not want to do it to tables such as posts or users, but to empty the sessions table is fine because it will fill its self back up as users visit.

I changed the case "S" to capital in subsilver.cfg file name and the admin page did not come back.
Then, I changed the folder name to "subSilver" and it worked.

I prefer not to play with session table as long as my problem is gone.

By the way, I have also installed Top Forum Posters block my website, thanks to the inspiration from yours. Cheers.

I looked through the forum admin page and changed GZIP setting from "No" to "Yes". Then my forums are not accessible. Any link I clicked inside the forum admin page would present a dialogue box for file download.

Now the Forum admin page is not accessible any more. The link for Forum Admin page (http://www.wenhui.ch/modules/Forums/admin/index.php) will present the same file download dialogue box instead of Forum Admin page. The forums are gone. I used a backup of the forums made on 24 May and ftped them to the website, to no avail.

What has gone wrong? Pls help.

I changed the gzip setting from 1 to 0 at phpmyadmin and everything is OK now.
