This is my first time to do the upgrade phpNuke 7.6 to 7.8. I don't know what to do, and pardon me for my dummy. I need your step-by-step instructions.

In my FTP right pane (hosting site) in the html folder (root directory) contains the following folders and files of phpNuke portal:

admin (folder)
blocks (folder)
include (folder)
module (folder)
language (folder)
theme (folder)
.....

index.html
backend.php
footer.php
header.php
...
so on.....

Do I have to drag and drop manually file to file, folder to folder of 7.8 to overwrite my 7.6 files, respectively? If this is the case, how do I upgrade the database?

or

I have to create a folder in the same root with those folders (admin, blocks, includes, theme....). Then I upload 3 folders (html, sql & upgrades) in the 7.8 package into this folder. Then start to launch the installer from a browser?

Is there any problem if I do the upgrade from 7.6 to 7.8? or I have to upgrade from 7.6 to 7.7 then to 7.8?

Is there any installer to do this task?

Is there any link to talk about how to do the upgrading?

I am appreciate your detail and step-by-step technical instructions. I want to learn how to do upgrading. icon_neutral.gif

P.S. If the help of upgrading to 7.8 is not available, I can do the upgrade to 7.7.

I've heard some pretty weird and crazy things about the newer versions of Nuke. If I were you, I'd stick it out with the version you currently have now. JUst because it's new doesn't always mean it's better.

Here's one of the articles that talks about that.

If you still want to upgrade after reading that article, then you always upgrade step by step. Meaning from 1 level to the next. You can not jump versions. so from 7.6 to 7.7 then 7.8. There are some sites that offer these steps...try and do a google for Nuke upgrade 7.7

Thank to you Taut & Kent for your useful article about upgrading to 7.7 or 7.8.

Since my 7.6 is OK now, I will keep it as it is as you two suggested. I will come back if I have any question. Hope you two can help me out.
