I've searched for my problem but i could not find any answer about it! Please Help!

I want to make page numbers in my php-nuke website. It's version is 7.8 I've downloaded files for 6.5 froım another site and 7.7 from this site. They are all same. no thing changed. so i can not aply to 7.8 because there is a difference. Lok at below

at code for index.html in version 7.7, the Instruction is(it is same as 6.5);

Change this line:
$sql = "SELECT sid, aid, title, time, hometext, bodytext, comments, counter, topic, informant, notes, acomm, score, ratings FROM ".$prefix."_stories where catid='$catid' $querylang ORDER BY sid DESC limit $storynum";

To these lines:
if ($pagenum == "") { $pagenum = 1 ; }
$offset = ($pagenum-1) * $storynum ;
$sql = "SELECT sid, aid, title, time, hometext, bodytext, comments, counter, topic, informant, notes, acomm, score, ratings FROM ".$prefix."_stories where catid='$catid' $querylang ORDER BY sid DESC limit $offset, $storynum";

but in 7.8 there is no line like this. there is

$result = $db->sql_query("SELECT sid, catid, aid, title, time, hometext, bodytext, comments, counter, topic, informant, notes, acomm, score, ratings FROM ".$prefix."_stories $qdb $querylang ORDER BY sid DESC limit $storynum");

i've tried to edit this line like below

if ($pagenum == "") { $pagenum = 1 ; }
$offset = ($pagenum-1) * $storynum ;
$result = $db->sql_query("SELECT sid, catid, aid, title, time, hometext, bodytext, comments, counter, topic, informant, notes, acomm, score, ratings FROM ".$prefix."_stories $qdb $querylang ORDER BY sid DESC limit $offset, $storynum");

but it did not work.

In categories.php i'v the same proglem. Please help me what should i do.
