My site (PHP Nuke 7.4) was hacked last night. We were able to fix everything, but now I want to put some more security in it. That's why I'm experimenting with PHP Nuke 7.8 and the patched version. I'm a bit scared to mess everything up, so I created a new subdomain to test everything. I created a new database and imported and upgraded my 7.4 DB. I uploaded a fresh 7.8 install to that subdomain, I've added my themes and some blocks.
I'm having some problems now :
I renamed my admin.php file and I changed $admin_file in config.php to the new name. It works, but in my Administration block it still links to admin.php.
None of the links in the administration block are working
My administration menu isn't showing all the icons as in 7.4 (eg. I'm missing : Add story, content, downloads, encyclopedia, faq, forums, and many more)
I also would like to install Sentinel, but I want to have my current problems fixed first.
Any suggestions ?

hello

sorry to hear u hacked .First you must know installing another nuke to same domain can make your cookies confused i ts possible you have missing icons and problems coz of that .

For your admin block links simply go admin/blocks/ hit edit on Administration block and change your links with your_new_admin_page_name

Hi,
Thanks, the links are fixed... stupid me icon_redface.gif
I installed the other nuke version in a different subdomain with a different cokkie name.
About the missing icons : I checked my nuke directory. When I go to admin/links or admin/blocks, those items were missing. So I copied the missing ones from my 7.4 installation changed the inks the same way the new links are. Hope I didn't mess anything up by doing so.
Only problem I have at this moment is, when I try to add a new download, it doesn't show up.

your welcome

dont feel like that most of us was there icon_cool.gif , i dont know the answer of your pronlem but if you cant find the answer i suggest you have a fresh nuke 7.6 install and see how it goes

why im saying 7.6 instead 7.8 coz its still latest stable version

i forgot to add my other post that you also need to install the latest patches for security,
i mean your steps should be ; nuke install +patches +nuke sentinel

you can find the latest patches at [ Register or login to view links on this board. ] ( make sure you install the correct version ,what i mean is if you use nuke 7.6 you need to use patches for 7.6)

i think the latest patch version is 3.1 so you must look for patched76 or patched78 for 3.1 (can find them top center block of above link)

as always always make back ups before you go for next steps

sorry if you cant understand my superior english icon_mrgreen.gif

So I'd better remove that 7.8 install, install 7.6, import my database, upgrade database to 7.6. Then see if it all works. If it does, install security patches and sentinel.
I'm a bit scared to do this on my current site, so I want to try it on another subdomain first.
To have some kind of protection on my current site I renamed the admin.php page, and each time I need to it, I rename it back to admin.php. Because 7.4 doesn't seem to have tha $admin_file possibility. Don't know if this is a good protection tough...
Thanks for your help !

Thats what i would do but as i said you can wait a while to see if any others can help/suggest you something better .
Using a test domain is always good ( thats what i do)
With 7.6 you can change your admin file name

you can also read Telli's advices via this link under nuke security section
